Project Overview
Ragnarok Origin is a cross-cultural RPG based on the classic Ragnarok IP, combining rich emotional storytelling, complex job and skill systems, MMO-style features, and a large amount of fantasy terminology. For this title, HS+ handled multi-language localization from Simplified Chinese into Latin American Spanish, English, Thai, and Indonesian, covering story content, UI, systems, and live-ops material at large scale.

The Challenge
Ragnarok Origin was not just a high-volume translation project. It required the localization to preserve the identity of a well-known fantasy IP while staying readable and production-safe across four different markets.
The main challenge came from the combination of:
- Large volume
- Frequent version updates
- Fantasy-heavy terminology
- Parallel delivery across multiple languages
- Tight milestone timelines
For a game like this, consistency matters as much as speed. Job names, skill systems, lore references, system terms, and event content all need to stay aligned over time, especially when the content keeps evolving after launch. That is why this project needed more than simple translation — it needed production-grade localization control.
What HS+ Delivered
- Simplified Chinese to Latin American Spanish, English, Thai, and Indonesian localization
- Localization across story, UI, systems, and live-ops content
- Consistency management across fantasy terminology and IP-specific wording
- Readability and cultural adaptation across four target markets
- Delivery support through tight schedules and ongoing version updates

Execution Approach
HS+ approached Ragnarok Origin around four pillars:
- Consistency
- Readability
- Cultural adaptation
- IP heritage
That meant the work was not handled as isolated text batches. The team treated it as a worldbuilding localization project, where terminology, lore, emotional storytelling, and gameplay systems all had to remain stable across repeated updates and multiple languages.
The workflow followed a production-style localization process:
- Define project scope, goals, and timeline
- Build glossary and style-guide logic
- Localize and adapt content by market
- Review for quality and context fit
- Deliver in time for release and ongoing updates
Results
Despite the frequent updates and aggressive schedule, HS+ maintained high localization quality across all four target languages. A key milestone of approximately 200,000 characters was delivered in under one month, and the overall project received client feedback of "zero delay, zero quality issues."
Outcome Highlights
- Large-scale multilingual rollout — 1M+ Chinese characters localized across core and ongoing content.
- Parallel market delivery — Four languages handled together with consistent terminology and readability.
- Fast milestone execution — ~200k characters delivered in under one month.
- Stable quality under pressure — Client feedback highlighted zero delay and zero quality issues.

Why This Case Matters
Ragnarok Origin is a strong localization flagship because it proves HS+ can handle not only volume, but also continuity. The project combined large-scale game text, fantasy terminology, multiple language versions, and frequent content updates without losing quality or schedule control.
